What is Business for the Arts?
Formed in 1974, Business for the Arts is a national business association dedicated to increasing the quantity and quality of partnerships between Business and the Arts through a cohesive set of programs that foster and promote business leadership in the Arts, facilitate funding relationships and connect business volunteers to the Arts. Founding members include Great West Life, London Life & Canada Life and Royal Bank of Canada – businesses that have set the standard for arts support in this country. Business for the Arts is committed to enhancing the quality of life in Canadian communities by increasing private sector support of the arts.
What is artsScene Calgary?
artsScene Calgary is a non-profit initiative that brings together young business and creative professionals (ages 18-40) through the arts, culture and creative industries. artsScene is a national initiative made possible by Business for the Arts, a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering and promoting business leadership in the arts, facilitating funding relationships and connected business volunteers to the arts. artsScene has been established in Toronto, Halifax, Montreal, and now Edmonton and Calgary.
What we believe
We have brought artsScene to Alberta in order to mobilize young business and creative professionals to play an active role in the growth of the arts, culture and creative industries in our province. Our manifesto is built around three beliefs:
1. That, strong creative and artistic communities are linked to innovative and prosperous communities.
2. That, creative, cross-disciplinary collaboration between business and the arts yield powerful results.
3. That, this is about empowering and activating our connected generation to grow our creative community.
